Hello, I'm Sanda Thura. I am a software engineer based in Virginia. With the passion of software development, I've spent last seven years researching in computer science and developing innovative business applications. I also help local businesses with their innovative business technology. Outside of software development, you can find me exploring the nature and taking amazing photos and hanging out with my friends. This website is a showcase of my life, my creations and art. Enjoy your stay😄!
A former capital city of Myanmar(Burma)
I grew up in Yangon for 18 years, a city that has left an indelible mark on my life. Yangon is the most populous city in Myanmar. It’s a city that buzzes with life, where cultures and religions blend seamlessly. It’s known for its bustling outdoor markets and narrow streets flanked by colonial-era houses. The city is also home to the largest number of colonial-era buildings in Southeast Asia.
In the photo is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Shwedagon Pagoda, a gilded stupa that dominates the Yangon skyline. This pagoda is not just a spectacle for its size and grandeur, but it’s also a sacred site believed to house relics of the four previous Buddhas.
Yangon, with its rich history and vibrant spirit, will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’m a proud alumnus of James Madison University, where I majored in Computer Science and minored in Honor Interdisciplinary Studies. JMU is located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. It is a historic public university that was founded in 1908. This picture was taken on Memorial Day when JMU plants millions of little flags on the quad in front of the Willow Hall.
I graduated from JMU in 2023 with distinction in Computer Science with honor scholar. I got awarded with honor Medallion from the Honor College for the successful completion of honor capstone research. JMU CS department also awarded me Grace Hopper Award for the contribution I made to the computer science field.
As an undergrad honor student, I also spend my time in honor capstone research. I worked together with Dr. Jason B. Forsyth, Dr. Kevin Molloy and Dr. Jacob Couch. Dr. Forsyth, being an amazing research advisor, he guided me on this research journey to the successful completion. With their support, I published my research in IEEE Xplore and presented in Symposium on Systems and Information Engineering Design (SEIDS) conference on April 2023.
The research is to understand the performance of machine learning model on the low-cost embedded system. The ML model can classify the subset of the cardiac disease using the electrocardiogram. The ultimate goal of this research is to enhance the accessibility of advanced low-cost medical technology in developing countries. The research was a first successful step to the brighter future.
Alongside my research, I worked with Dr. Kevin Molloy on his research. His research is to use machine learning model to detect SARS-2 COV variants from protein sequences. I helped him to prepare these protein data for the model training.
Currently, I am working as software engineer contributing to the Premier™ with innovative solutions. I work on both frontend web application and backend services with the aim to improve the better user experience for our customers.
